This research paper was one of the few writing assignments I really immersed myself into mostly because it connected with my identity and what it means to be a Middle Eastern American who goes to school and work. I highlighted what Middle Easterns, specifically in the Levant region struggled with in order to claim their rightful identity all to be stripped away from its real meaning. I touched on the origins of whether Levants should be considered ‘White’, Gen Z’s meaning, benefits if being highlighted under white vs as nonwhite and the data and statistics regarding it. I found this writing assignment to be extremely important for my future because it helps share my identity in the kind of work community I want to be involved in and whether I would be accepted with those differences I struggle with.

This Media analysis paper was one of my favorite writing assignments because it involved focusing on a crime based movie from our choosing to analyze in depth and relate it to a specific theory of crime. As I am interested in the study of crime and law, I wanted to discuss a theory that is not well developed which is the femnist criminology theory. Being able to watch an enjoyable film while also connecting it with a subject of interest was very fun. This assignment allowed me to shine my voice to a potential future career path.

This paper was actually one of the few I enjoyed writing in this class because it really helped define what working in criminology is all about. Within this paper I argued how life course theories are essential to understanding why people behave in criminal activity. What are the changes in a person’s life that would lead to that future? As it is technically the environment around a person that is the root of why an individual is influenced the way they are. I did this by splitting up the main points of those criminal acts, which is important in order to be organized when understanding a specific topic in my career.

In this paper I analyzed a theory of defining literature in chapter one of Eagleton, which is literature. As an English major, one must understand the meaning behind certain terminologies in order to dive deeper into what makes this subject important. Doing this assignment was the first turning point of what made me want to continue to pursue this major because of the “what ifs” and “what do you think of this”. Being able to observe a question I’ve had for so long myself and actually seeking this answer finally, helped me turn on my critical thinking skills and move forward with that habit for the future.
